How I Got Here: Part 1

Posted in: Life

Hi everyone! So as y’all can all tell I’m going to try this whole blogging thing! What better way than to tell you all a little about me, my story, and by some twist of fate I became a photographer (I feel like this is one of those awkward first days of school all over again)!

So here we go! I was born and raised in The Woodlands, Tx. Raised alongside me was my younger brother and always some number of dogs. My mother and father both ran their own businesses from home. My mom ran a petsitting business and spent her days driving through the community walking and taking care of peoples pets, and you guys, she was ALWAYS that mom with a camera in her hand. She would take pictures of peoples pets to send them while they were away but also would snap pictures of her kids all the time. She even was the co-chair of the yearbook committee one year I was in elementary school and would run around snapping pictures of my friends on the playground!

What I’m getting at here is that I was always around the camera, and I didn’t think anything of it. One of those elementary school years my mom even encouraged me to enter into a photography contest, so I did, and won a prize. My little elementary school aged self was pleased but didn’t think much of it and until that moment I had never even looked at photography as art.

That was about the end of my photography days. I became involved in other activities and spent most of my time at the cheer gym until high school. By then everyone had little digital, and front facing phone cameras and I became obsessed taking selfies with my cheerleading teammates and taking funny pictures with my other friends at the Apple store (don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about). I even carried around my own little digital camera. But did I ever even think of becoming a photographer? nope! The thought never even crossed my mind.

For your enjoyment. Here’s a picture of little me and one of many dogs I grew up with, Jack.
